Lyrics

Sudden, I see the tree solid to the ground
yet straining to reach high, I see the tree now
rooted to ground, was always, somehow, striving for sky

The choices that branch, the years like leaves,
it is grown now with some regret, yet no reprieve
It describes my life, choice, and the chances I thought took
yet irrevocably destined for this view and outlook

I lived in some ideal world
Blind, I would not see to look round
but now, seeing all clearly
it is time in the end that will hew me down

This is the tree, near which I will rest
These leavened years, solid as my best
My best now was, and it is time that now bests
and now too, I see the sun low to the west

This then is my Tree, and here I do rest.
